“Does my wedding make-up have to be a heavy look for wedding photographs?”

Today experienced Wedding MUA Liz Patey is answering one of her most frequently asked questions, with the aim to give you an insight into your bridal make-up. Liz is busting the beauty myth that your wedding make-up needs to look heavy to have impact in your wedding photographs, and guess what? The answer is NO! Let’s find out why…

Many blushing brides assume that having a heavy make-up look for their big day will result in the wedding images being beautifully elegant and perfectly professional, when in reality, this is not always the case. Wedding photography is almost always taken in natural light so the heavier the look, the more obvious the make-up will be, and no bride wants to look caked in make-up on their wedding day. This especially rings true if you usually wear natural, understated make-up.

Your wedding day make-up must highlight the best version of you – not only will your face be what your guests are looking at all day, but photos last forever. You want to be able to look back on your wedding images years down the line and swoon over how utterly beautiful you looked.

Liz Patey MUA can work with brides on an individual basis to ensure that only high-quality products are used for you to achieve a flawless look. Professional products are essential as they tend to last longer and have a better finish when applied to the skin. It’s vital to remember that having a heavy make-up look doesn’t necessarily mean it will last longer either, in fact, it can begin to slide off the face and can cause creases in the natural lines of the face.

One of Liz’s favourite ways to enhance natural bridal make-up is to add individual lashes. An expert at individual lash application, Liz can ensure they last the whole day and maintain a natural look. They will give you a wide-eyed, defined look that brides are looking for.

Finally, every bride to be needs to think about establishing a healthy hair and skin care routine at least 12 weeks before the wedding. This will help Liz Patey MUA to create a flawless base on your beautiful blemish-free, glowing skin. You can find out more about our skincare tips here!

A make-up trial is also recommended so you don’t have any worries on the day itself. Bridal hair can perfectly compliment your make-up look too, so ensure your bridal hair trial is booked around 4 months before the big day. That way you can sip on bubbles whilst your #glamsquad get you wedding ready, utterly stress-free before becoming a Mrs!
